Brian Wimmer as Dr. Keith Ricks

Keith is a marine biologist in charge of the Bal Harbor Research Institute. He is fascinated by dolphin communication, and has dedicated his life to unlocking its mysteries (Pilot). As a young boy, he was known as "Bud," a nickname he later disliked (Pilot) (the Keith of this series is the Bud of the original 1964 series, all grown up). He and his brother, Sandy, were raised by their father, Porter Ricks, and grew up without a mother (Pilot). As children, they had a dolphin friend named Flipper (Pilot), which undoubtedly created a life-long passion for dolphins. Keith and Sandy eventually had a falling out and did not talk for quite some time. Keith was once engaged to a woman named Jennifer Barnett, but after Sandy also fell in love with her and proposed, she disappeared from both of their lives. Keith did not forgive Sandy for this incident for many years (With Brothers Like This).
